Difference between the Honeywell 6150 & 6150RF Keypad
What is the Difference Between the Honeywell 6150 Keypad and Honeywell 6150RF Keypad?
Honeywell 6150 and Honeywell 6150RF are two widely used products in the long list of Honeywell’s popular alarm keypads. Both keypads are quite similar and are exchangeable in various scenarios. However, there are some differences between these two keypads that you should know about if you are looking to buy one of these. Learning the differences between the two will help you make an educated decision based on your preferences and needs.
Following are some differences between Honeywell 6150 and
Honeywell 6150RF:
Wireless
Capability
This is one of the key differences between 6150 and 6150RF. Honeywell 6150 is an alarm keypad that features a fixed English display. It doesn’t have an integrated wireless receiver and transmitter module which are essential if you want to install wireless devices in your security system. As compared to this, Honeywell 6150RF has a built-in wireless receiver and transmitter module. The 6150RF is basically a 6150 keypad with some added features such as a 5800TM transmitter module and a 5881ENM wireless receiver. The wireless receiver of 6150RF supports up to 16 zones. So, if your security system setup includes several wireless devices, then installing Honeywell 6150RF would be a good idea.
Cost
Effectiveness
Because of built-in wireless transmitter and module, Honeywell 6150RF is more cost effective as compared to Honeywell 6150. The difference of cost effectiveness will be significantly noticeable if your security system setup contains several wireless devices. This is because you will simply need to install the 6150RF keypad and all your wireless devices will connect to it without any issues. You won’t need to install any additional wireless receiver or transmitter as they are built-in in the 6150RF. As compared to this, if you have a 6150 keypad and you want to add some wireless devices to your security system, then you will have to install a wireless receiver and transmitter. This will result in additional costs. Furthermore, the installation will also be a hassle as you would have to install wireless transmitter and receiver separately depending on the product. Because of this, it is clear why Honeywell 6150RF is a better option when it comes to cost effectiveness.
Additional
Wireless Features
Although both 6150 and 6150RF have similar features, Honeywell 6150RF offers some additional features thanks to its wireless capability. These features are not supported/offered by Honeywell 6150 because it doesn’t have built-in wireless transmitter and wireless module.
Following are some additional features of 6150RF that aren’t offered by 6150:
