When choosing the fiber for a project there are many considerations:

1. What fiber is already installed in the building? To avoid confusion I recommend staying with the existing fiber type. Unless the customer is upgrading their network to 10G and then you might switch from OM1 to OM3.

2. What data speed are looking for? If 10G+ then OM3/OM4 is a good choice.

3. What is the fiber project? If you are just running a link between 2 buildings or out to cameras on poles SM is good choice as the cost will be quite a bit less for the fiber than for MM.
